Don't be the moron in the crowd....

So it must be said that underage drinking, and drinking in excess, will not be tolerated at either Cup. Since we're so fabulous, the Camden City PD, the Kershaw County SD, and the Highway Patrol- will be beefing up their numbers and even trying to blend in thanks to plaid pants and flip flops.... Just- you know, don't be an idiot. If you're underage- don't drink. If you're legal- try not to make it a marathon or anything. Everyone knows that cocktailing goes with tailgating, but there's no reason anyone has to get vomited on... I'm just saying. It's way more fun and you'll look 10X better in your photos. They'll be less fights- nothing worse than trashed girls windmilling, or boys thinking they're Superman... and Cup jail would be a far more pleasant thing if it didn't exist. Just my .02 Take it or leave it, but just be forwarned- the boys in blue will be watching and waiting and we ALL know that some of them just can't wait to make an arrest!Cheers!

Fall Cup moving to a Saturday?

Fall Cup moving to Saturday?

With the recent addition of College Park to our Fall Cup- it has been brought up that a Saturday race might suit our fans better. Traditionally the race has always been held on a Sunday, but I can tell you as a fan myself- that blows. So the Board is set to meet and vote on it May 5th. I’m encouraging all my Racers to give me a thumbs up, a hell yeah, a whatever, if you think the switch is a good idea. Something I can share with the higher-ups.

The Colonial Cup- or Fall Cup- is really the nicer Cup. Generally less sketchy weather, good crowd- extra things to do (shops, dog races, donkey cart rides) and I feel comfortable bringing the kids EVEN WHILE mommy is cocktailing…. well, before I employed with The Cup I guess. ;)

The prices are cheaper, the atmosphere is more laid back. I’m hoping that the change of date, and the targeting of our college audience will be a positive thing. Afterall, there’s never a reason NOT to tailgate- and it’s an away game this year BEFORE you interject with that!

Soles for the Soul

I'm really craving the beach, and maybe it's the nautical theme of the above shoe.... I like the red, whit, and blue- it'll match anything. I like the life-saver rings and the thong- I feel comfortable in a flop- but the Cup calls for a wedge. It makes me want to wear a thickly material'ed wrap-dress, and big glasses (from Costa del Mar), and go for hush puppies and fried flounder..... I like the shoe.
Then again- who doesn't like pink? It reminds me of gum, bunnies, The Girls Next Door.... A
T-strap elongates the leg- always slimming, so I'm a huge fan of that. I want legs that appear to be stilts. I want long long long legs- so you don't look art my sun-burned face, my wind-whipped hair, and my salsa stained dress hahahaha. These might do the trick!

And the boys will love getting away with a Flop. It's casual, it's brown. It'll compliment seersucker, madras, khaki- pants, shorts, you name it. You don't have to worry about a thing except your dusty feet at the After Party! hahahaha

Dressed to Impress

It has to be said. I'm the thinnest I've been in a long time.. and I'm hoping to be "thinner" still at the Cup- so I'm not DREADING the dress try-on'capade as I usually am. Though a deeper tan would help assist- and maybe hair that didn't immediately look like straw in dressing room light- but for once I won't look semi-pregnant.... I don't think. I mean, I KNOW I won't be semi-pregnant, but will I look it?........ Well, now I'm just nervous again.

The only dress fit for the Cup is a Lilly. Don't ask me why, but if you're Southern, and I am- Lilly is the end-all answer to the "Who are you wearing?" come Cup-time. The patterns are beautiful, the fabric is not so super thin it's going to shrink or tear, or just crapout on you after 2 wears- it's quality. But it's not so thick that you're wearing essentially a cardboard box all day long. It's worth the spending. I don't know that I dare post the dressing room runway show I had the other day in assorted Lilly designs. But I will post a few samples from their website.... I can say with *been there, done that* certainty, the seer-sucker *ruffle at the top* job-ie did wonders for my *lack o' bust* and was just so cute. So "Cup!"

I like a pattern though- so the salsa, the ham delight, the drink, the dip- the WHATEVER I inevitably drop on myself, doesn't show up so bad. HOWEVER, on the the other hand, a solid dress allows more room to do a funky shoe if you will..... the quandary. Lovell Shift in Lilly's Pink Tiger Lilly www.lillypulitzer.com

Rain Rain Come Today Stay Away Another Day

Go ahead rain! Bring it! Rain Rain Rain! Pour it on in inches and inches!

Just don't rain at the Cup!

I've jokingly said I've made a deal with the devil that it won't be cold and wet this year, and joking aside, I truly believe it will be fantastic. It's never horrid 2 years in a row! Anyway, I'm working this year and by-god I'm not a cold/wet fan in any circumstances. I don't snow ski for this very reason. I don't even "I'll stay at the lodge"- it... I just don't go period. I'm more of a blue water, white sand, cold drink kindof' girl- HENCE the need for perfect 80+ weather.

I like it hot. I don't think I've ever been *too hot* (temperature-wise ). I like the sun beating down on my newly bought sundress that I WILL WEAR (yes I'm one of THOSE girls). I would wear that new dress if it SNOWED! Half the fun of Cup is the pre-Cup shopping!!!!!

So rain rain rain away this month- because come March- it better d@mn well be warm!! And fabulous! Everyone start your *sun* dances! Because it's going to shine! Shine! Shine!!!!!!!
